Food· 1

  1. Sillim Sundae Town

A cluster of Korean blood sausage restaurants for casual local meals.

A cluster of sundae (Korean blood sausage) restaurants near Sillim Station, formed in 1992 when sundae shops and street vendors from the surrounding market moved into one building. Today it spans two buildings.

    Why go
It is a local eating district where office workers and couples drop in for a casual meal, so it shows everyday dining in southwest Seoul.
    Good to know
Stir-fried sundae is cooked on a griddle with vegetables and a chili-paste sauce, while white sundae skips the chili and comes with perilla powder and sesame oil, a milder choice. Closing days vary by restaurant, so check the official notice.

Experiences· 2

  1. Gocheok Sky Dome

A domed baseball park where games go on in the rain and you can bring food.

A domed baseball stadium in Gocheok-dong, Guro-gu, built as the first baseball dome in Korea. It is the home park of the Kiwoom Heroes.

    Why go
Because it is a dome, games go ahead in the rain. The club's guidelines allow outside food to be brought in (no bottles, with limits on alcohol), so you can bring your own chicken and beer for a chimaek-style game.
    Good to know
Go on a Kiwoom Heroes home-game day. Tickets are sold on the Kiwoom Heroes page of NOL Ticket, and the on-site car park can't be used on baseball days, so take public transport. The season usually runs from late March to early October.

  2. Venue G Aqua 24

A big jjimjilbang in a home neighborhood where families spend the day.

A large sauna and jjimjilbang complex on the second basement level of a building near Gayang Station in Gangseo-gu. It has themed rooms such as clay, salt and ice rooms, saunas, a fitness area, a book cafe and a kids' zone.

    Why go
It is a big jjimjilbang in a residential part of western Seoul rather than a sightseeing facility, so you see an ordinary jjimjilbang day. The book cafe and children's areas make family use easy to observe.
    Good to know
Seoul's official tourism listing gives the third Wednesday of each month as a closing day, with an earlier close the night before, so check the date. It is about 770 m from exit 8 of Gayang Station on Line 9.
