Yes — but the part worth planning for is free, and it is not the shopping. What pulls people to Seongsu-dong now is a set of free beauty services inside Olive Young's two experience stores: a skin and scalp scan, a personal colour session, a men's brow bar. The one everybody wants takes no booking at all — it takes 35 people a day, in the order they arrive.

Seongsu passed Hongdae in the first half of 2026 to become Seoul's second-biggest district for foreign spending, and a second experience venue opened there on 30 June 2026. Everything below is as of August 2026, with a date attached to each figure — most of these numbers are less than a year old.

  1. 01Seongsu passed Hongdae in the first half of 2026 and now trails only MyeongdongRanked by tax-refund sales to foreign visitors, the first half of 2026 put Seoul's districts in this order: Myeongdong at ₩326.5 billion (+39%), Seongsu at ₩138.4 billion (+88%), Hongdae at ₩130 billion (+16%), then Dosan/Garosu-gil at ₩36.7 billion and Hannam/Itaewon at ₩32.4 billion. It was the first time Seongsu finished ahead of Hongdae. The figures were compiled from Korea Tourism Organization and ministry data and published in July 2026.
  2. 02Foreign visits to the Yeonmujang-gil blocks doubled in a year, and the subway says the sameIn the first quarter of 2026, Seongsu 2-ga 1-dong and 3-dong — the blocks around Yeonmujang-gil — counted 1,090,693 foreign visitors, up 110% year on year, against Myeongdong's 3,553,947 in the same quarter, up 32%. The station tells a longer version: as of 2024, Seongsu Station averaged 445 foreign riders a day and ranked 13th in Seoul, against 34 a day and 83rd place in 2017. Over the same years Ewha Womans University Station went the other way, from 465 a day down to 108.

  3. 03Yeonmujang-gil is now 70% fashion and beauty, but the pop-ups inside it are rented by the dayThe share of fashion and beauty brands among Yeonmujang-gil storefronts has risen from 50% to 70%, so the district itself is not a temporary installation. The short-term spaces inside it are: a two-storey building near Seongsu Station has gone for as much as ₩30 million a day, a three-storey space on Yeonmujang-gil for around ₩20 million, and 660㎡-class buildings were already booked out to spring 2027 as of May 2026. Check a pop-up's run dates before you build a morning around it.
  4. 04Olive Young N Seongsu is the anchor, and it leads the whole chain in Korean-customer sales tooOlive Young N Seongsu opened in November 2024 across five floors and 4,628㎡ — the chain's first innovation store and its largest in Korea. It had drawn 4.5 million visitors by May 2026. The part visitors don't expect: from January to May 2026 it ranked first among every Olive Young in the country for sales to Korean customers and for visitor numbers, not just for foreign ones.
  5. 05Six beauty services there are free, and how you get a place differs by serviceThe menu is six: Skin Scan (skin and scalp diagnosis), Find Your Color (personal colour), Quick Touch-up, Men's Brow Bar, Home Care Lesson and Pick Your Vibe (a full makeup). How you get a place is not the same for all six: some run on on-site sign-up — you register at the store on the day, others take an online reservation in advance instead. Check the store's own listing for the one you want before you plan a morning around it. Through May 2026, 50,000 people had used the six, and 70% of them were foreign visitors.
  6. 06The skin scan takes 35 people a day, and the queue forms before the doors openSkin Scan, the skin-and-scalp consultation, is capped at 35 people a day and signed up for only at the store, on the day. Korean reporting from November 2025 described a line outside from around 9am, doors at 10am, a rush to the third-floor reception, and people who arrived after that being told the day was already full. Treat it as the first appointment of your day, not something you drop into after lunch. Through May 2026, 97% of the people who took it were foreign visitors.
  7. 07A second venue, Beauty Mansion Seongsu, opened on 30 June 2026 in North SeongsuBeauty Mansion Seongsu is Olive Young's follow-up in North Seongsu — four floors, about 500 pyeong (roughly 1,650㎡ converted), laid out as rooms rather than aisles. It runs a beauty device studio, an advanced derma consultation built on 3D skin diagnosis, and Color Fit Touch, which reads the proportions of the upper, middle and lower thirds of your face against the look you are aiming for. Sign-up here is on site, same day, too.
  8. 08Amore Seongsu is the third address, and it closes every MondayAmore Seongsu is at 7 Achasan-ro 11-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, open 10:30–20:30, closed every Monday. What it runs changes by season — the services listed on its Amoremall page have all been limited runs with end dates on them — so check the booking page for the date you will be there rather than for the service you read about somewhere.
